How to get a confirmation / verification for my dive cards and certifications?
First you have to be registered in the ProTec member area. The electronic dive card (ProTec Smart Card) is synchronized with the member area database and shows the current status. A QR code that is displayed on the smart card for each certification refers to an additional online check (ID-Card Validation) that can also be accessed via the website. In addition, each user’s current status of valid certifications is displayed in the member area.
Note: If you have ProTec diving certificates from before 2020, these older certificates cannot be confirmed until you are registered in the current Member Area. In order to transfer your older certifications to the new registration, you must register as the holder of an existing ProTec certification. Otherwise you will get a new number and your previous ProTec certifications will not be assigned to you.

What is the difference between Scuba and Apnea diving?
Apnea divers known as free divers take a breath on the surface and dive while holding their breath under water without using a SCUBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus). Scuba divers on the other hand use tanks filled with a gas mixture to dive under water.
What is the difference between recreational and technical diving?
The recreational scuba diving allows to directly ascent to the surface, where as technical diving includes decompression stops during your ascent. Technical diving involves diving in overhead environment such as cave and wreck diving where a lot of planning is needed.
I haven´t been diving in a long time, should I re-take the course or can I proceed with advanced courses?
Of course it would be recommended for your own safety to refresh your knowledge after having a long pause from diving. Please contact your ProTec diving center or your ProTec Instructor to get more information on refresher course.
Can my ProTec certification card expire?
Unlike the Professional (Instructor or Instructor Trainer) licenses, the Diver licenses do not have an expiry date. That means as soon as you have completed your certification course and have obtained your diving card you are entitled to dive regardless when your certification was made. However, in order to increase your confidence and safety, the refresher course would be recommended. Please contact your Dive center directly for further details on the refresher course.
Does ProTec offer refresher courses?
Refresher courses are being directly offered at ProTec dive centers. Please get in touch with your ProTec diving center to get more detailed information.
What about ProRecTec?
ProRecTec was an attempt (in 2019) by a few people to copy ProTec. ProTec successfully stopped this project completely in court with a court order. ProRecTec no longer exists. All relevant cards from ProRecTec are invalid. We have instructed our ProTec diving instructors to offer owners of ProRecTec cards a Crossover, whereby suitability must of course be checked according to ProTec standards.
What gear do I have to buy and what gear will be provided during the program?
It would be recommended to have your own fins, snorkel and a swimming mask as those necessary diving items require your individual fit.
