1. Information we collect

Our web site collects data to operate effectively and provide you the best experiences with our services. You provide some of this data directly, such as when you create a personal account. We get some of it by recording how you interact with our services by, for example, using technologies like cookies, and receiving error reports or usage data from software running on your device. We also obtain data from third parties (including other companies). For example, we supplement the data we collect by purchasing demographic data from other companies. We also use services from other companies to help us determine a location based on your IP address in order to customize certain services to your location. The data we collect depends on the services and features you use.

1.1 How we use your information

Our web site uses the data we collect for three basic purposes: to operate our business and provide (including improving and personalizing) the services we offer, to send communications, including promotional communications, and to display advertising. In carrying out these purposes, we combine data we collect through the various web site services you use to give you a more seamless, consistent and personalized experience. However, to enhance privacy, we have built in technological and procedural safeguards designed to prevent certain data combinations. For example, we store data we collect from you when you are unauthenticated (not signed in) separately from any account information that directly identifies you, such as your name, email address or phone number.

1.2 Types of data we process

  • Personal data (e.g. names and addresses)
  • Contact data (e.g. e-mail address, telephone number)
  • Content data (e.g. texts entered)

1.3 Persons concerned by the data processing

All visitors and users of our website (hereinafter collectively referred to as “users”) are affected within the meaning of the GDPR.

2. Use of contact form – contact by e-mail

2.1 Description and scope of the data processing

We offer you the possibility to contact us via the contact form provided on our website. In order for us to be able to answer the inquiry, it is necessary to provide a valid e-mail address. The provision of all other data requested as part of the contact form is voluntary and based solely on your free decision. If a user takes the opportunity to contact us via the contact form, the data entered in the input mask will be transmitted to us and stored.

During the submission process, you consent to the processing of your data.

As an alternative to using the contact form on our website, it is possible to contact us via the e-mail address we provide. When contacting us by e-mail, we store the personal data of the user transmitted to us with the e-mail.

The data will be used by us exclusively for the processing of the conversation.

2.2 Legal basis for data processing

The legal basis for data processing for the purpose of contacting us is Art. 6 para. 1 p. 1 lit. a GDPR.

If the e-mail contact or the inquiry via the contact form is directed towards the conclusion of a contract, Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR constitutes the additional legal basis for the processing.

2.3 Purpose of data processing

The processing of personal data from the input mask serves us solely to process the contact. If the contact is made by e-mail, this also constitutes the necessary legitimate interest in processing the data. The other personal data processed during the sending process serve to prevent misuse of the contact form and to ensure the security of our information technology systems.

2.4 Storage duration

We delete the data as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose for which it was collected. For the personal data from the input mask of the contact form and the data transmitted by e-mail, this means that the deletion takes place when the respective conversation with the user has ended. We consider the conversation with the user to be terminated in this sense as soon as it can be inferred from the circumstances that the relevant matter has been conclusively clarified.

2.5 Possibility of objection and removal

The user has the option to revoke his consent to the processing of personal data at any time. If the user contacts us by e-mail, he can object to the storage of his personal data at any time. In such a case, the conversation cannot be continued.

All personal data stored in the course of contacting us will be deleted in this case.

3. Use of cookies

3.1 What are cookies?

To make this site work properly, we sometimes place small data files called cookies on your device. Most big websites do this too. A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your computer or mobile device when you visit the site. It enables the website to remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, font size and other display preferences) over a period of time, so you don’t have to keep re-entering them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.

3.2 Why do we use cookies?

We use first- and third-party cookies for several reasons. Some cookies are required for technical reasons in order for our websites to operate, and we refer to these as “essential” or “strictly necessary” cookies. Other cookies also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience. Third parties serve cookies through our websites for advertising, analytics and other purposes. We may also use small pieces of software code called “web beacons” or “clear gifs” to collect anonymous and aggregate advertising matrix, such as counting page views, promotion views, or advertising responses. A web beacon is an electronic image, called a single-pixel or clear GIF. Web beacons can recognize certain types of information on user’s computer, such as a user’s Cookie number, time and date of a page view, and description of the page where the web beacon is placed. You may render some web beacons unusable if you choose to reject their associated cookies. These web beacons may be used to deliver cookies that conform with our Cookie Policy.

3.3 How do we use cookies?

  • Cookies essential for the functionality of the website. We may use cookies to enable us to provide some of the more complex functionality on our websites. In these instances, cookies are essential for those elements to work.
  • Statistics with non-personal (anonymous) data. They don’t contain any personal information and can’t be used to identify you.

3.4 How to control cookies?

You can control and/or delete cookies as you wish – for details, see http://www.aboutcookies.org.uk/. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities may not work. In addition, most advertising networks offer you a way to opt out of targeted advertising. If you would like to find out more information, please visit http://www.aboutads.info/choices/ or http://www.youronlinechoices.com. Please be aware that if you do not configure your browser you will accept cookies provided by this website.

4. Sharing your information

We share your personal data with your consent or as necessary to complete any transaction or provide any service you have requested or authorized. For example, we share your content with third parties when you tell us to do so. When you provide payment data to make a purchase, we will share payment data with banks and other entities that process payment transactions or provide other financial services, and for fraud prevention and credit risk reduction. In addition, we share personal data among our controlled affiliates and subsidiaries. We also share personal data with vendors or agents working on our behalf for the purposes described in this statement. For example, companies we’ve hired to provide customer service support or assist in protecting and securing our systems and services may need access to personal data in order to provide those functions. In such cases, these companies must abide by our data privacy and security requirements and are not allowed to use personal data they receive from us for any other purpose. We may also disclose personal data as part of a corporate transaction such as a merger or sale of assets.

4.1 Use of Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze website usage. The data obtained from this is used to optimize our website and advertising measures.

Google Analytics is provided to us by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google processes the website usage data on our behalf and is contractually committed to measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of the processed data.

During your visit to the website, the following data is collected, among others:

  • Pages viewed
  • The achievement of “website goals” (e.g., contact inquiries and newsletter sign-ups)
  • Your behavior on the pages (e.g., dwell time, clicks, scrolling behavior)
  • Your approximate location (country and city)
  • Your IP address (in shortened form, so that no clear assignment is possible)
  • Technical information such as browser, Internet provider, terminal device and screen resolution
  • Source of origin of your visit (i.e. via which website or advertising medium you came to us)

No personal data such as name, address or contact details are ever transferred to Google Analytics.

This data is transferred to Google servers in the USA. We would like to point out that the same level of protection under data protection law cannot be guaranteed in the USA as within the EU.

Google Analytics stores cookies in your web browser for a period of two years since your last visit. These cookies contain a randomly generated user ID with which you can be recognized during future website visits.

The recorded data is stored together with the randomly generated user ID, which enables the evaluation of pseudonymous user profiles. This user-related data is automatically deleted after 14 months. Other data remains stored in aggregated form indefinitely.

If you do not agree with the collection, you can prevent it with the one-time installation of the browser add-on to disable Google Analytics or by rejecting cookies via our cookie settings dialog.
